Every Live, Laugh, Love Club I Workshop by Once Upon a Family is different and each one focuses on the upcoming holiday, a cherished family value and an important keepsake project. The January Live, Laugh, Love Club I workshop, for example, is geared around Valentine's Day and Gifts of Love. Live, Laugh, Love Club Members will talk about the Languages of Love, create Love Journals for someone they cherish, and take home the Hearts of Loving Kindness tradition to start with their own family. The May Live, Laugh, Love Club I workshop focuses on the value of Responsibility. Club Members will discuss 5 Father's Day tradition ideas and learn of a wonderful way to teach cherished family values using the Candle of Honor. You can do all that in just 2 hours a month!
Here's an easy way to teach your child about being loving & kind: Use these pretty little hearts during the month of February to teach the value of loving kindness to the loved ones in your life. Every time you see someone doing something kind for someone else, write their name and what they did on one of the hearts. String it up on the ribbon and hang it in the kitchen or family room for all to see. The more hearts your family sees dangling, the more they will want to add to the festive display. Be sure to preserve those precious memories in your Valentine's Day Book with a photo of family members holding their "Hearts of Loving Kindness". "I teach first grade and the son of one of my Live, Laugh, Love Club Members is in my class. In class one day, I noticed he had one of our Live, Laugh, Love keys dangling from his beltloop. After the other kids went to work on activities, I asked him where he got his key. He showed it to me and went into a lengthy story about how he helped both of his little brothers and gave up "the best popscicle" to his brother. When he displayed this "Act of Love" his mom rewarded him with the "Key of Love". The boy was so excited that I saw the key and knew it meant something special that he beamed with pride. When he saw his mom later he excitedly told her that I had noticed. His mom was so happy that I had reinforced something she did (and I didn't even know that she did it!). Seeing how something so simple could make such a huge impact was one of the greatest lessons she had learned. She is going to be sure to buy the other keys each month as her boys now are wanting to work for their chance to earn the key!
